Services
Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of an annual physical examination. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions feeling their best:
All surgeries, x-rays and major laboratory services are performed at Animal Clinic Northview, Inc. Our fully equipped surgical units allow us to perform not only routine but also complex surgeries, such as orthopedic, ophthalmic, cardiac, and other major internal procedures. We offer onsite electrocardiogram (EKG) services as well as CardioPet, a telephone transmitted, offsite EKG service, which is evaluated by board certified cardiologists in New York. We also provide our patients with laser surgery. It is less painful and provides for quicker recovery time.
LABORATORY
Our laboratory provides one of the most important services we can offer. It gives the doctors critical information to treat any pet from the largest Great Dane to the smallest bird. In most cases, the lab results are obtained on site in a matter of minutes. Tests that require more detailed results are sent to the most reliable lab facilities in the United States. Results are usually returned within 24 hours. We also consult with outside experts, when necessary, to obtain the most extensive information available to assist in treating our patients.
RADIOLOGY
Radiology is a vital tool in the diagnosis of some your pet's problems. Animal Clinic Northview has a complete radiology department, including dental x-rays. We also process and send x-rays to the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) and to PennHIP.
PHARMACY
We maintain a very extensive inventory of prescription medications and over the counter products. We also fill special orders. Pets on extended medical prescriptions should be seen at least every six months to evaluate their progress or reaction to those medications. Upon approval from your veterinarian, our staff will process your pet's prescription. Telephoning ahead for your refills will allow us to be more efficient and shorten your waiting time.
PREVENTIVE CARE
Animal Clinic Northview stresses the importance of regular vaccinations and routine physical exams to keep your pet healthy, and offers complete preventative medical services. Our doctors realize the need to get young animals off to a good physical start, as well as care for your senior pet. Our patients are very important to us and a long, enjoyable life is our goal for them.
REPRODUCTION
Animal Clinic Northview, in conjunction with the International Canine Semen Bank-Ohio, offers extensive assistance and advice in the breeding of dogs and cats. Artificial inseminations, including surgical and transcervical, infertility work-ups, diagnosis and frozen semen services are provided within our facility. We also specialize in shipping fresh-cooled or frozen semen to any location specified by our clients. The ICSB-Ohio has the approval of the American Kennel Club. Contact Dr. Robert V. Hutchison and his reproductive staff.
Not only do we provide avian medical and surgical services, but we also can offer advice on husbandry to new owners. Routine services for these special pets include grooming (beak, nails and wings), x-rays, hematology, and microbiology. Surgical and DNA sexing of birds are also provided. Because of the time and special care involved in handling birds and exotic animals, appointments with Dr. Jamie Lindstrom must be made well in advance.
EYE CARE
While all of our doctors are qualified to examine your pet's eyes, Dr. Nancy Grzenda has established herself as the doctor to see regarding any special needs of eye care.
ORTHOPEDICS
Dr. Knox is performing a new procedure for cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) injuries in medium and large dogs. Read more about Tibial Tuberosity Advancement.
DENTISTRY
While both clinics can provided cleaning services, Animal Clinic Northview also provides extended dental care, including root canals, periodontic and other endodontic services. Our new Dental Department offers restorations (correcting tooth irregularities or fractures), crowns (including contouring teeth and impressions); application (usually requires 2 to 3 visits) and full orthodontic services as well as dental x-rays. Dr. Matt Wilson will be happy to answer any questions regarding your pet's dental care. Written estimates are available for all of our clinic procedures.
We offer the best available small animal care. At times x-rays or ultrasound procedures may not be enough. Endoscopic procedures have many advantages over traditional procedures: they are minimally invasive, cause less pain, require small or no incisions, and allow for an easier recovery. The procedures available include rhinoscopy, cystoscopy, gastrointestinal, laparoscopy, colonoscopy and bronchoscopy. Dr. Randy Hutchison is available for consultation.
LASER SURGERY
Your pet's health and well being is as important to us as it is to you. If your furry family member is soon having surgery, we recommend laser surgery. Most pets will benefit from the use of this surgical procedure. The benefits include virtually painless feline declaws, faster recovery and less bleeding from surgical procedures such as neuters, spays, removal of skin lumps.
BEHAVIOR COUNSELING
Emphasizing prevention of behavior problems before they start, we offer pre-selection counseling, as well as puppy and kitten behavior counseling and training. By appointment please.
TOURS & EDUCATION
The staffs of both clinics are proud of our facilities. Animal Clinic Northview, Inc. offers tours for individuals and groups. Please contact our appointment secretary for details and arrangements.
